The winter fair opens at Norrwick
Norrwick, 4 February 1821
The particulars which follow are furnished by a correspondent at Norrwick, on whose accuracy we have found we may rely. The winter fair opens at Norrwick. 200 head of cattle change hands. Prices are described as firm. Speaking to this journal, the keeper of the toll-house said: 'We heard it from the far bank and thought it was the ferry.'
By the next morning Norrwick had returned to its ordinary business, frost having made the causeway treacherous. The driver of the carrier's cart said the town had seen the like before and would see it again.
