Tarnmoor, 4 October 1934
The coldest night in 70 years is recorded at Tarnmoor. Lake Tarn freezes to the middle. A woman who had come in from the market said: 'You could hear it in the next street.' The town was quiet by evening.
The matter will be raised at the next meeting of the town officers, when the ratepayers will hear of it in the usual form.
