The Assembly Hall (from our correspondent). Karl Hartwig is elected Grand Chancellor by the Assembly, by a single vote. The war budget is the first item of business. The appointment was announced from the Chancellery late in the forenoon and the oath was administered the same day.

The Chancellery issued no further statement. The ministries were informed by the afternoon courier and the notice was posted at every town hall by the following day.
