Lindenmar, by wire. The coldest night in 50 years is recorded at Lindenmar. Lake Tarn freezes to the middle. One witness, a woman who had come in from the market, gave the following account: 'I said at the time it would come to this.'

By the next morning Lindenmar had returned to its ordinary business, the ferry running late. A boatman from the lower quay said the town had seen the like before and would see it again.
