Marschau, by wire. Oberst & Sons, Brewers is declared bankrupt. 286 jobs are lost at Marschau. a boatman from the lower quay, asked for a view, offered none.

The Exchange took the news in its stride; the close is given in the market column. Brokers in the wine rooms reported a quiet afternoon.
