Tobias Ort resigns as Minister of the Interior over a contract for causeway timber awarded to a brother-in-law. The Chancellor accepts the resignation 'with regret and without comment'. The papers in the matter have been sent to the Ministry of Justice. More follows.

The Chancellery issued no further statement. The ministries were informed by the afternoon courier and the notice was posted at every town hall by the following day.

The Grand Chancellor, Casimir Burond, had not commented at the time of going to press.
