Liesl Fenn wins the Varrant Prize for Literature for A Patient Inheritance. The town officers attended at about half past 8.
By the next morning Vellmar had returned to its ordinary business, the causeway being under a hand's depth of water. A woman who had come in from the market said the town had seen the like before and would see it again.

The Grand Chancellor, Konrad Brenn, received the report at the Chancellery without comment.
