A fire in Garrison Gate at Weinfeld destroys 6 houses

A fire in Garrison Gate at Weinfeld destroys 6 houses. The garrison attend. No lives are lost. The matter was the only talk at the market that evening. One witness, a woman who had come in from the market, gave the following account: 'They were very orderly about it.'

By the next morning Weinfeld had returned to its ordinary business, the causeway being under a hand's depth of water. A peat cutter on his way home said the town had seen the like before and would see it again.

The Grand Chancellor, Hendrik Brenn, received the report at the Chancellery without comment.
